Abstract

In September, the California Dental Association Foundation1 (CDAF) approached the Petris Center for assistance in a major study they had undertaken to assess the supply of dental auxiliaries (hygienists and assistants) in California. They wanted to add an economic analysis of the supply and demand for dental auxiliaries to the survey results that had been produced by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research (CHRP). Working with both CDAF and CHPR, Petris researchers quickly identified, measured, and analyzed the key supply and demand factors in the dental auxiliary labor market. In November, the CDAF published the complete report.
